I am little bit confused regarding the fact that we should minimize the RMSE. So less the RMSE value means better ranking. But here rankings are provided based on greater RMSE score i.e. more the score better the ranking. Why is it so?
Thanks for writing in. We calculate the RMSLE error.
The score that you see on the leaderboard is not the RMSLE error.
The way the score calculated is : Score = 1 – RMSE error. So, lower your RMSLE error the better.
I hope this solves your doubt and I hope you actively participate in all our hackathons.
Thanks for the reply
I would like to know which type of log you are taking for calculation?
log10 or log2 or loge i.e. natural log for RMSLE calculation?
That’s a good question. We are taking log10 for the error calculation.
And for the score ‘1 – RMSLE’.
